Our History Story
Our story goes back to 1936
About Us
In 1936, Benny Schmalzbauer started cutting hair in Downtown White Bear Lake. When he tried to file for a license in 1945, the city official said: "All the barbers in town have petitioned us not to allow another barbershop to open up in town." Today there are no barbershops of that era in existence in White Bear Lake except for Benny's Barbershop.
In memory and to honor these historical businesses, we have designed the world's largest roof top barber pole mural.

We are practicing Covid-19 Protocols as required by the State of Minnesota Barber Board to remain open. We have posted the rules we must follow on our doors and windows. Scrub uniforms, masks and sanitation procedures are part of this protocols for your protection.
